"He is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog. You are his life, his love, his leader. He will be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat of his heart. You owe it to him to be worthy of such devotion." - Unknown
Our Mission: Phoenix Rising Pit Rescue holds the welfare of the Pit Bull breed as our primary focus. We hold the public perception of the Pit Bull in the forefront of each decision and endeavor, and strive not only to rescue those animals that have been discarded, but also to place those animals in loving homes that understand the responsibilities of owning a bully breed. We are currently looking for loving foster homes for our bullies to stay while on their search for their forever home. If you would like to donate your home, your time, and your love to one of our dogs, please, use the contact button on the left and help us make a difference! If your looking for a new member for your family, please look through our adoptable dogs section. If one of our pups interests you, please contact us and we can set up a time for everyone to meet!

This rescue started with a dog named Rebel who quickly became not only my best friend, but my children's best friend as well. I have never met a dog that compares to the loyalty, love, personality, friendliness, and companionship as an American Pit Bull Terrier, such as my Rebel. The New Hanover County Animal Control and the New Hanover County Humane Society (the County in which I live) do not adopt out APBT's. If they are surrendered by their owners or not reclaimed once picked up by the AC, they are euthanized. They are not given a chance to find a home. They are killed, because they are Pit Bulls. That is where I come into play. The rescue has become a place for owners to bring their dogs instead of having them be killed by the agency that is suppose to protect animals. It has also become a place for those dogs who's time has come up in other counties, because they ran out of time at the shelter or Animal Control they were in. The rescue has grown considerably since its beginnings, thanks to the help of other area rescues and agencies, and the generosity of those who have helped by donating food and other items. Thank you! NEWS! Howl-O-Ween Pit Bull Awareness Day: We will be participating in the Pit Bull awareness day at Cedarock Park in Burlington NC on October 25th, 2008. There will be vendors, admirals of the breed, rescue groups, and lots of other great stuff going on, so come on out! Fundraising Events: HELP SAVE PACHACCO! This little baby has been through so much already. At 9 weeks old the little guy came down with Parvo. His adoptive family spent $1800.00 dollars to save his life. After blood transfusions and finally a plasma transfusion, Pachacco is back on his feet! We are hoping to help raise some money to help reimburse the amazing young couple that spent so much to save his life. Please, help those that do all they can to make a difference. Please make a note for your donation to go to the Pachacco fund.

"Puck" above, was a rescued 10 year old pit bull from Washington who found his happy ending with a wonderful family here in Wilmington, NC. The support from all over the U.S. was amazing, getting this guy not only to safety but to a happy, loving home!
